You're thinking of HD-DVD. Traditional DVDs lone hold 4.7GB for single layer, and twice that for a double seam. HD-DVD discs hold 15GB on the first layer, and 30GB on both layer. Toshibe has just this minute introduced a triple layer disc, which will be 3x15GB=45GB. HD-DVDs are bigger because their content is record at an enoumous bitrate for superior quality.
