Pci cards are video cards that have a maximum of 8 mb. They can be use in any motherboard as long as they enjoy a pci slot (the white straight socket). These cards were mostly use surrounded by old motherboards range from pentium 1 to pentium 2. They are also used in motherboards that does not own any AGP slot.



If your motherboard has an integrated video card and it happen to break down, plus it does not have any AGP slot. The best replacement would probably be the PCI video card (unfortunately it may not make very fast).



AGP cards in opposition are faster and beter than the PCI cards. Some pentium 2 motherboard has AGP slot which is 4x speed. Recent nouns has made most up-to-the-minute motherboard with an AGP 8x speed slot. The fastest AGP card that i can remember have a memory of 256mb.



PCI express video cards are the latest so far, that have a memory of up to 512 mb. But they are not your typical pci video cards, hence they are not compatible with antiquated motherboards.
