what is an expansion drive?

i hold a new notebook with a dvd cd writer and underneath to be exact an expansion drive. what is that and what is it used for can anyone tell me please

what is an expansion drive?

i.e. just an expanson sound, so if you wanted to put a hot optical(DVD) drive in nearby, it you have the space to do it. simply for future expansion/upgrade purposes.
I believe you'll find it's an expansion slot which is a drive bay (space) for you give something like a 2nd dvd rw or sturdy drive, something like that.
an expansion drive is an free slot in your computer so you can tag on more things like another tricky drive or devices.
